» Chatter is a chat application with a client written in Macromedia Flash and a server written in Perl. It makes use of Flash's built-in capability to maintain a socket connection to an XML server.

» We're releasing the source for Chatter, both client (written in Flash) and server (written in Perl). You can download the whole package here. Installation instructions are included, but if you're thinking of customizing Chatter, a solid knowledge of Flash (and/or Perl) is required.

We're going to keep improving and adding features to Chatter. New versions will be released on this site. And if you're interested enough to contribute some work to the effort, your code or design could be part of those future releases.
