Workplace mints

Since V and I got together, I've practically lived at her place.

I think that I've spent one night at my place in that time. I have decided that this week, I am going to begin staying home with some regularity, so that I can get more done. As hard as it has been for me to motivate recently, I think that it is even harder when i am not in my familiar work space. I am very space-specific when it comes to my creative output. The next big challenge will be to curb my web surfing. That one is deadly for productivity...

The Internet is the worst killer of productivity. You have to recognize noodling and stop it before it rots out the whole day. I've found that compartmentalizing the Internet noodling after a solid block of productive work is the best thing for me. Identify the things that are important for you to do or accomplish in a day and then do those before you let yourself start noodling. Once you have made progress, then give youself 30 minutes to noodle. That way you get to nurse the addiction and get things done. If you can't get things done, take a walk, but don't noodle online or you'll never get your groove. Or at least this is what I've found. YMMV.

man, the dual hobgoblins of internet access and remotely-situated girlfriends are all too familiar... i've realized over the years that being in non-cohabitative relationships increases my level of creative constipation and trough-like personal unfulfilledness. i'm currently in the process of moving in with my partner (the first time i've done this in many years), and i'm excited to explore the benefits of being around my loved one and being in my creative workspace (as you put it) simultaneously. probably i'll just end up sucking on an old shoe, however.

Hey, I've made an art form out of shoe sucking!

In fact you can kill more of your precious time by going to www.suckmyshoe.com for a downloadable video of me going across the country and sucking on the most famous shoes in history. Shoe sucking is my life!
